　　前几天在雅典的示威者主要是14、15、16岁的青年，他们用和平的方式表达了他们对警察杀死他们同侪的不满情绪。当时警察所作出的决定是避免更多生命损失，依照法律规定应对时下局面，而非枪支规定。请记住1992年在洛杉矶发生的事件导致53人死 亡，2500人受伤和超过10亿美金的财产损失。
　　极端分子集团将这场悲伤的宣泄演变成了暴力和重大破坏行为。政府坚决维持法律和秩序，绝不会让任何犯罪份子逍遥法外。在过去的48小时里已有150人被捕。

Greece assured the security of Chinese citizens

The majority of the demonstrators in the past few days in Athens were 14, 15, 16 year old teens who were expressing in a peaceful way their frustration over the killing of their fellow student. The decision that was made by the police was not to risk further loss of life and confront the situation with the rule of law, rather than the rule of the guns. Remember what happened in Los Angeles in 1992 with 53 deaths, 2500 injuries and property damage at 1 billion dollars.

What has happened was that a group of extremists exploited this outpouring of grief to turn it into violence and wreak havoc. The government is determined to protect law and order and not to allow these criminal elements to go unpunished. 150 people were arrested in the last 48 hours.

Finally, the government took the decision to compensate all those whose property was damaged by these violent acts and to provide immediate financial relief and support.

Security of Chinese citizens in Greece

China hopes the Greek government could safeguard security and property of Chinese people and organizations in Greece, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said in Beijing on Tuesday.

China has noticed the Greek riots, and trusts that the Greek government could properly handle the event, said Liu at a regular press conference.

Riots broke out in Athens and other Greek cities in the early hours of Dec. 7 after a teenager was allegedly killed by police the previous night. The chaos has lasted for three days so far. Several stores, banks and private cars in the center of Athens were burned or destroyed in the rioting. China hopes the Greek government could contain the riots as soon as possible and restore public order, Liu said.

China has not yet received information about whether Chinese organizations or students were attacked by protesters, said Liu. (Dec.9 Xinhua )

5. France, October – November 2005, November 2007 Riots erupt after 2 boys of African decent are electrocuted after trying to avoid a police check in the Clichie poor neighborhood east of Paris. The eastern neighborhoods of the French capital are set ablaze and riots spread in other cities like Toulouse, Lille, Strasbourg, Marseilles and Lyon. President Chirac declares state of emergency. Hundreds of people are arrested and the material damage is huge. In November 2007 in the banlieu Villieu le Belle a 15- year old and a 16 year old are killed after their motorcycle collides with a police car. The families accuse the police of deliberately crashing the motorcycle and letting the youngsters die after the collision. Violence erupts, and President Sarkozy orders the deployment of a big police force in the area. In February of this year 33 people are arrested for violent acts.

6.Belgium, Brussels, September 2006 Riots that last for a week after 24-year old immigrant found dead in his cell.

7. Holland October 2007, Violence erupts after a 22-year old Moroccan attacks 2 police officers inside their police station, and is killed by them on the spot.
